Our Organization
Stewards of a Sacred Place
The Earltown Church Cemetery Company is a registered Canadian nonprofit organization (CRA Charity No. 872221668RR0001), based in Tatamagouche, Colchester County, Nova Scotia. We are the dedicated stewards of the Earltown Church Cemetery — one of the region's oldest and most historically significant burial grounds.
Founded by community members who recognized the urgent need to protect and maintain this irreplaceable heritage site, our organization has grown into a respected institution that serves families, supports genealogical research, and preserves the living history of the Earltown community.
We operate through the tireless efforts of a volunteer board of directors and the generous support of the community we serve. Our work is guided at all times by our core values: dignity, stewardship, transparency, and community service.

Our Board of Directors
The Earltown Church Cemetery Company is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the Tatamagouche and broader Colchester County community. Our board members bring a wealth of experience in community service, heritage preservation, estate administration, and grounds management.
The board meets regularly throughout the year to oversee cemetery operations, review maintenance plans, manage organizational records, and plan for the long-term sustainability of the cemetery.

Our Volunteers
Beyond our board, the Earltown Church Cemetery Company is supported by a network of dedicated community volunteers. From seasonal grounds maintenance to genealogical record digitization, volunteers are at the heart of everything we accomplish.
Our volunteer teams carry out essential work including grass cutting, memorial cleaning, pathway clearing, historical photography, and cemetery records management — all without remuneration, driven purely by a deep love for this community and its history.
